Stop Motion Animation with LEGO course

What makes a great stop motion animation?

Storytelling? Action? Special effects? What about all of these combined.

Our special online BrickFlicks stop motion animation camp allows you to make your very own laser shooting, spaceship flying, robot fighting action movie all set in space.

The camp includes a stop motion kit with everything you need to make the movie. We are also keeping the number of participants to a minimum so everyone gets a chance to explore and develop their skills

For 4 days, join our animator for one hour as you learn how to animate using storyboards, camera angles and make visual effects using material you find at home. You get feedback on your animations from the tutor and at the end of the week you have your very own movie made including music and sound FX.

In this camp you will receive a special Stop Motion Kit delivered to your door which will include a Lego Creator 3 in 1 set, base plates, lego bricks, a mini-figure, backgrounds, and a certificate.

Perfect for budding young creators, animators or those who just want to have a go.

Information for this camp

  • What you need to access this camp

    1. A mobile device (smartphone or tablet).

    2. Stop Motion Studio Pro app (€5.99) downloaded.

    3. Storage space on the device.

    4. A second device (Laptop/ desktop/tablet or phone) with a camera to watch the live zoom calls, participate with the tutor and follow along with any live demonstrations.

  • What App does this camp use?

    This course uses Stop Motion Studio Pro. We Strongly recommend you use the paid version as it will be required at certain stages throughout the course. Please make sure you can download the latest version of the app and that the operating system of your device is up to date. Older operating systems or devices may not be compatible anymore with the new version of the app.

  • Additional Resources

    Alongside the videos, this course will use an interactive website called a Padlet. It will contain templates, backgrounds, storyboards, and other resources that can help you on your way to becoming great animators.

  • Time Commitment

    Each morning of the camp will include 1 hour of live online demonstrations & 1 hour of offline activities (Optional). 5 hours online over the week-long camp.

  • What do I get with the course?

    Along with getting advice and live demonstrations from an experienced tutor, you also get a Stop Motion Kit with lego packs, mini-figure, base plate, background & certificate.

    Suitable for ages 8yrs + (we recommend that an Adult assists with the online elements of the course)

I found that the people running the course were very nice and likeable! As animation is a thing I already enjoy it was just fun to be doing it with others and talking about it. The BrickFlicks team has over 15 years of experience delivering workshops to children in Stop Motion, Music, and Digital Media. BrickFlicks tutor Dave Sheehan has been creating fun and educational content for children of all ages since 2014, and has delivered BrickFlicks workshops to children in school & venues all over Ireland including The Ark Childrens Cultural Centre, Dublin, Riverbank Arts and Solstice Arts. The Academy is a fun, safe place for children to learn new skills and share their work with the BrickFlicks animators. All content is specific to the age category (8-12 years) and designed to engage this group.
